NBK Capital Alternative Investments Group has successfully acquired a 51.0% stake in Sistem-9 Medya, the market leader in the fast growing digital signage (“DS”) industry in Turkey. The investment was made through NBK Capital Equity Partners Fund II, the firm’s private equity fund which focuses on acquiring minority and majority stakes in growing middle market companies in the MENA region.
Established in 2005 by Mr. Kaan Akin, Sistem-9 Medya is the leading Turkey-based provider of end-to-end Digital Signage (DS) integration solutions and Digital Out-of-Home (DOOH) advertising channels. The company operates in two verticals: system integration and advertising networks. Sistem-9 has been capitalizing on the rapid growth of the DS industry that is driven by the technological shift from traditional static banners to interactive digital panels.
“We continue to invest in companies that demonstrate a strong capability to innovate and thrive in growing and evolving industries”, said Amjad Ahmad, Head of Alternative Investments at NBK Capital. “The advertising industry is at an inflection point where we will see convergence towards digitalized platforms, and we believe Sistem-9, with its strong system integration capabilities and advertising networks, will be at the forefront of this evolution”, he added.
Mr. Akin stated, “We see our partnership with NBK Capital as a key milestone and we are confident that our partner’s financial and strategic knowhow, as well as its regional reach, will enable Sistem-9 to become the regional frontrunner in this rapidly evolving industry”.
NBK Capital Equity Partners Fund II is a USD 310 million private equity fund focused on acquiring significant (majority and strategic) stakes in growth companies in the MENA region. The Fund specializes in an active investment approach to create long-term sustainable value through financial, strategic, operating and corporate governance enhancements.
